2012 New Year's Eve

My hubby and I will celebrate New Year's Eve at home tonight - just the two of us.   We're  past the partying stage, and  prefer to welcome in the New Year in the comfort and safety of our  home.  I bought a bottle of bubbly [in our house that's alcohol-free Sparkling White Grape Juice!] to go with our shrimp  cocktail while watching the crystal ball descend in Times Square, ushering in the New Year, 2013.

More photos from Steve & Sharon's NYC trip... A billboard advertising the Russian Tea Room on 57th Street.

And a photo of where they're staying while in NYC.   Isn't it a beautiful brownstone residence?
The President and Director of the ministry under which the house is run, has a tea ministry at NYC hospitals.  I don't know the details yet, but I'm looking forward to communicating with her, and I'll be sure to share the information.  Steve is an ordained minister, and this house is available to those involved in church ministry when they come to NYC for a respite.

Now back to New Years Eve... I was inspired by the New Year's Eve tablescapes at The Nest at Finch Rest blog and Between Naps on the Porch, and decided to come up with my own New Year's Eve tablescape.  I love Michelle's clock plates, but was unsuccessful in tracking some down for myself.  My friend, Angela, at Tea with Friends blog, is an excellent sleuth, so maybe she can help me find them by next year [are you reading this, Angela? ;-)].  In the meantime, I was able to find clock plates at Burlington Coat Factory [of all places], and they'll do just fine for tonight.

I borrowed hubby's pocketwatch to help carry out the theme.
 Happy New Year!

2012 Year in Review

I entered the world of blogging on January 24, 2012, and this is my 236th post.

To recap my first year of blogging, I took the most read posts from each month.  It's been fun to look back at the tea experiences I wrote about.

A heartfelt thanks to all who visited my blog over the past 12 months, and a special thanks to those who  became a follower.  If you took the time to leave a comment, please know it was greatly appreciated.  I look forward to the new tea experiences the relevant tea leaf will provide in 2013.

May God's peace and blessings be yours in 2013!

Alice's Tea Cup in NYC

I promised to let you know if Steve & Sharon [my son and daughter-in-law] made it to any of the tea places I gave them.

Steve sent me a photo of Alice's Tea Cup on W. 73rd Street yesterday.  Turns out it's only two blocks from where they're staying.  He's bringing me back a menu and brochure.

I already have a cookbook from the tea room.

They're having a great time in NYC.
