A Gone with the Wind Sneak Peek!

It's almost time for Saturday's Gone with the Wind Tea Party.

The invitations have been mailed setting the stage for the theme of the tea.

The china, linens, and centerpiece are ready and waiting.  A green tablecloth since the O'Hara's came from Ireland.  Green rimmed china with yellow daffodils will coordinate perfectly with it. Fortunately I had some silk daffodils that I purchased back in the spring to place in the ivy candle ring centerpiece, since fresh daffodils are unavailable at this time of the year.  In the language of flowers, daffodils mean esteem, regard, and unequalled love. Scarlett had several gentlemen throughout the book/movie who seemed to feel that way about her!

China backstamp.

Commemorative plates of Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara will be on the table.

Miss Scarlett at her beloved home, Tara.  Ms. Greeley [the interior designer that I recently wrote about] would be pleased that the O'Hara's named their home.  ;-)

For a small favor I bought shamrock charms for each guest.

At previous teas I've tied charms to the handle of the teacups, but this time I'm putting them in nylon bags that will go at each place setting.

The menu's been determined [after numerous changes], the grocery shopping is done, and today I'll play the role of Mammy, preparing all the food that will be eaten at tomorrow's tea. I'm looking forward to it!

  4. I'd love to be there and see how wonderful this sounds in person. And of course dress up in 1860s hoopskirts.
