Memorial Day

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!

In December 2000 Congress passed, and President Bill Clinton signed into law the National Moment of Remembrance Act, asking Americans to stop and remember those who died while serving in the military at 3:00 p.m.  The idea for the "Moment" was born when children touring the Nation's Capital were asked by the Commission's Director what Memorial Day meant.  They responded, "That's the day the pool opens."  A Gallup Poll revealed that only 28% of Americans knew the true meaning of Memorial Day.

Don't forget to pause today from your holiday activities to thank God for our military, especially those up gave up their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today, and to ask for His guidance and protection on those who serve today.

My son posted the picture below on his Facebook page today.  Thankfully, my dad returned from WWII alive, or I wouldn't be here today.  These are my two grandchildren, Isabella and Landon, at his grave site, the first Memorial Day after he passed.

It's a comfort to know our parting is only temporary, and we'll be reunited again in Heaven someday, where there'll be no more wars and peace will be eternal.

Liber-tea!

  2. I'm thankful that my father returned from WWII, too, but I do remember and honor all those who gave their lives for our country's freedom.,
